Blog numero 31.  SHELL.

Por fin llegue después 36 horas de viaje desde trujillo hasta un pequeño pueblo se llama shell. 

Mi primera noche (llegue el lunes a las 8) no tuve ningún idea donde debo ir para dormir ni encontrar mi jefe ni nada.  Fui al hospital y cuando no pude entrar yo comí un mango.  Por fin me dio cuenta que podría ir al emergencia y después 30 minutos estaba durmiendo el la cama mas grande de toda mi vida.

Yo empecé en el hospital Martes, y los doctores estaban hablando sobre turnos y horarios trabajando en el hospital.  Eso no era lo que yo quise o pide, entonces me dio miedo que yo no podría hacer lo que quise hacer - salud publica y desarrollo comunitario.  Pero, después un reunión el miércoles todo era bien.  Mi horario estaba leer, traducir, y escribir por la primera semana, y después podría ir con grupos y el equipo de desarrollo a las comunidades rurales para ensenar o construir o desarrollar relaciones.  Yo tuve libros acerca teoría de desarrollo, culturas, promotoras, enseñanza, y alivio.  también, porque este hospital es un organización Cristiano, también tuve libros devotos y de teoría Cristiano, como CS lewis o otros.

Entonces, si tengo fotos y experiencias de Shell y voy a escribir un blog para cada uno de estos, pero acá voy a explicar un poco sobre lo que yo ha aprendido.  Voy a intentarlo en castellano.  Ayuda me Dios. :)

Primero, debo presentar la tema bien.  Soy un Cristiano.  Sigo Cristo, así como puedo.  Si me conoces bien ya sabes este, pero tal vez no era bien obvio.  Entonces mucho que he aprendido es un poco espiritual, y por supuesto no tienes que leer si no quieres.  Pero si estas leyendo creo que me cuidas, y probablemente tienes ganas a entenderme mejor.  Este es un parte bien importante de mi vida, y para entenderme hay que entender que yo creo.  Además, los principios de desarrollo que aprendí puede ser secular también, entonces por lo menos puedes aprender algo nuevo.

Para empezar, algunos antecedentes.

Yo creo en los partes claves de Cristianismo.  No creo en una biblia enteramente literal, pero también creo que hay partes claves y partes que no son claves.  Por ejemplo, la doctrina de creación no es clave, y también creo que no es literal.  En un época de mi vida si yo creí en una Biblia literal, pero con dudas, preguntas, y repuestas yo llegue acá, donde estoy ahora.  La cosa importante es eso: siempre hay que tener dudas y siempre hay que preguntar honestamente.  Si quieres hablar acerca de esto mas, por favor enviarme un mensaje.  Yo te cuento eso solo para decir que casi todo que yo aprendí tiene un basis en un punto clave: Si eres un Cristiano, su vida debe cambiar para vivir mas como Jesús.  

Creo que si solo un medio de los Cristianos viven como deben vivir el mundo va a cambiar.  Es la verdad que muchos Cristianos hacen cosas terrible, y también es la verdad que muchas personas de otros religiones o sin religión son personas muy muy buenas.  Pero yo creo con todo mi corazón que si vivimos como Jesús ha comandado el mundo seria un lugar muy diferente.  

Cristianismo debe ser un manera de vida mas que solo una palabra.  Cristianismo debe costar mas que quieres dar.  Mas donaciones, mas tiempo, mas esfuerza, mas dolor.   Debes estar incomodo.  Todavía no he vivido así.  Pero estoy intentando, desde ahora.  Como dijo Ghandi: "No sé de nadie que has hecho más por la humanidad que Jesús. De hecho, no hay nada malo en el cristianismo. El problema está en ustedes los cristianos. Usted no comienzan a la altura de sus propias enseñanzas."

Ok.  Las enseñanzas

Primero, yo aprendí (Mejor dicho: estaba convicto) la arriba.

Segundo, acerca desarrollo.

La primera cosa que debemos aprender es que hay tres diferente dimensiones de servicio.  El primero es alivio, el segundo rehabilitación, y el tercer es desarrollo.  

1) alivio: cuando hay un desastre (tormenta, inundación, una persona recientemente sin hogar, etc) y personas están muriendo sin ayuda.  No pueden ayudar ellos mismos, ni tiene habilidad a salvar ellos mismos, y no tiene los recursos para ayudar los demás.  

2) rehabilitación: después un desastre ha estado estabilizado.  Cuando nadie va a morir por falta de algo, pero la comunidad necesita reconstruir todo.  con rehabilitacion (y tambien Desarrollo) hay dos reglas bien importante.  a) jamas hacen para alguien lo que el puede hacer por su mismo.  b) tiene un plan de salir.  necesita saber cuando tu vas a salir y permitir la gente a intentar y desarrollar por ellos mismos.  Si van a caer, pero si todavia estas alli nadie va a estar de pie por su mismo. 

3) desarrollo.  este es mejorando los condiciones en una communidad estable.  en parte tres Voy a describir 4 areas de relaciones, y desarrollo es específicamente el desarrollo de los relaciones.  Vamos a ver.

Con estos tres demensiones de servicio son cada uno importantes.  Pero, son peligrosos.  Si hay un situacion que necesita Alivio y ustedes intentan a dar desarrollo la gente va a morir.  Igualmente, Si no hay un desastre pero intentamos a dar alivio la gente va a ser dependiente en nosotros y no va a desarrollar verdaderamente.  Por eso es importante a saber en que etapa de necesidad es esta comunidad.  

Luego, Yo aprendi que la primera cosa que debes ser con comunidades es un valoracion de los haberes de la comunidad (como habilidades, infrastructura, lideres) y de los deseos de la comunidad.  nadie puede ensenar nada o promover cambios si la comunidad no tiene interese.  

y por fin, yo aprendi nuevos definiciones de las palabras "desarrollo" y "pobreza."

Demasiado a menudo creemos que pobreza significa solo una falta de cosas materiales.  Este creencia es una mentira peligra.  Con este podemos creer que para resolver este problema solo necesita proveer lo que ellos faltan.  Si lees el libro se llama "voces de los pobres" una cosa es muy obvio.  Los pobres falta mas que cosas materiales. Ellos hablan mucho sobre respecto, depresión, falta de digno, relaciones, habilidad a proveer por sus familias, etc.  

Yo aprendí que la pobreza es un falta en 4 diferente áreas de relaciones.  

1) su relación con su mismo.  Pobreza en este relación significa depresión, vergüenza, y el sentido que no tiene digno.

2) su relación con los demás.  Pobreza acá es un vida sin un red de apoyo, sin amigos, con desigualdad, racismo, desprecio, y supresión.  También puede faltar cosas materiales en comparación a los demás.

3) Entre usted y el medio ambiente.  Te falta recursos para vivir, como un techo, agua, comida, salud.  

4) Y por fin, falta un relación con Dios (mira, sin este son principios secular!).  Con un relación con Dios puede sentir Su amor y propósito.  Además, si tienes este relación, y los demás tienen el mismo, las otras áreas va a empezar a mejorar.   

Entonces, nosotros entendemos que hay 4 áreas de pobreza, y reconocemos que debemos pensar en como podemos cambiar nuestros acciones para servir en cada área.  

En la primera área debemos ofrecer entrenamiento para trabajos y oportunidades a coger trabajo.  Con el segundo hay un lugar para las leyes.  El tercer es con alivio, y este es quizás la mas fácil a tratar.  La verdad es casi cada uno de estas áreas va a mejorar cuando hay una comunidad cariñosa.  Los demás pueden proveer trabajos, pueden luchar contra desigualdad y desprecio, y pueden asegurar que los que no tienen nada pueden sobrevivir por su cariños y compartiendo.  Para hacer este cambio hay que cambiar le mente de la comunidad completamente.  Una manera para hacerlo es con Cristianismo.  

Escuchen.  Ya se que las mayoría de Cristianos no son buenos ejemplos de como debemos conducirnos mismos.  Y también ya yo se que hay bastante personas non Cristianos  quien son mejor ejemplos.  Pero este es lo que yo he visto acá.  Cristianismo es transformador para las comunidades acá.  Acá ellos se comportan como deben:  Con cariño y amistad, con dando y compartiendo.  Es increíble.  La verdad simple es si puedes ayudar con los tres problemas primeras sin el cuarto.  Pero con el cuarto sera mas fácil porque vas a tener ayuda:  La ayuda de una comunidad transformado.

Y por fin, Tengo una lista muy importante.

Por 4 ano he estado escribiendo cosas que he aprendido.  Ahora yo tengo una lista con mas que 500 cosas.  Por la primera vez voy a  publicarla.  Los cosas aprendidas recientemente estan abajos.

SHELL.Finally I arrived after 36 hours traveling from Trujillo to a small town called shell.My first night (I arrived monday at 8) I had no idea where I should go to sleep and find my boss or anything. I went to the hospital and when I could not enter I ate a mango. I finally realized I could go to the emergency and after 30 minutes was sleeping on the biggest bed of my life.I started in the hospital Tuesday, and doctors were talking about shifts and working hours in the hospital. That was not what I wanted or requested, then I was afraid that I could not do what I do - public health and community development. But, after a meeting on Wednesday everything was fine. My schedule was to read, translate, and write for the first week, and then I could go with groups and the development team to rural communities to teach or build or develop relationships. I had books about development theory, cultures, health promoters, teaching, and relief. Also, because this hospital is a Christian organization, I also had books on Christian theory and devotinoals, like CS Lewis and others.so, yes I have photos and experiences of Shell and I will write a blog for each of these, but here I will explain a little about what I've learned. I have not lived like this. But I'm trying, now. As Ghandi said: "I know of no one who has done more for humanity than Jesus. Indeed, there is nothing wrong with Christianity. The problem is with you Christians. You do not begin to live up to his own teachings."
Ok. Lessons
First, I learned (rather, was convicted of) the above.
Second, on development.
The first thing we learn is that there are three different dimensions of service. The first is relief, rehabilitation second, and the third is development.
1) relief: when there is a disaster (storm, flood, a newly homeless, etc.) and people are dying without help. They can not help themselves, or have ability to save themselves, and not have the resources to help others.
2) rehabilitation: after a disaster has been stabilized. When no one will die for lack of something, but the community needs to rebuild everything. with rehabilitation (and also developed) there are two very important rules. a) never do for to someone what he can do for himself. b) have an exit plan. you need to know when you're going out and allow people to try and develop themselves. yes they will fall, but if you're still there, no one will stand for themself.
3) development. This is improving the conditions in a stable COMMUNITY. in part three I will describe four areas of relationships, and development is specifically the development of relationships. Lets see.With these three demensiones of service each one is important. But, they are dangerous. If there is a situation that needs relief and you try to give development people will die. Similarly, if there is a disaster but we try to give people relief will be dependent on us and will not truly develop. Therefore it is important to know in which stage of need is this community.Then I learned that the first thing you should be with communities is a valuation of the assets of the community (such as skills, infrastructure, leaders) and the desires of the community. No one can teach anyone anything or promote change if the community is not interested.and finally, I learned new definitions of the words "development" and "poverty."
Too often we think only poverty means a lack of material things. This belief is a dangererous lie. With this we believe that to solve this problem one only needs to provide what they are missing. If you read the book called "voices of the poor" one thing is very obvious. The poor need more than material things. They talk a lot about respect, depression, lack of worth, relationships, ability to provide for their families, etc..
I learned that poverty is a lack in 4 different areas of relationships.1) your relationship with yourself. Poverty in this relationship means depression, shame, and a sense that one has no worth.2) your relationship with others. Poverty here is a life without a support network, friendless, inequality, racism, contempt, and suppression. You can also be missing material things compared to others.3) Between you and the environment. We need resources to live, like a roof, water, food, health.4) And finally, we need a relationship with God (Look, without this they are secular principles!). With a relationship with God one can feel His love and purpose. Also if you have this relationship, and others have the same, the other areas (the above three) will start to improve.
So we understand that there are four areas of poverty, and recognize that we must think about how we can change our actions to serve in every area.
In the first area we provide job training and opportunities to get a job. In the second there is a place for laws. The third is with relief, and this is perhaps the easiest to treat. The truth is, almost every one of these areas will improve when there is a caring community. The others can provide jobs, can fight inequality and contempt, and can ensure that they who have nothing can survive on their affection and sharing. To make this change you have to change the community's mind completely. One way to do this is with Christianity.
Listen. I already know that most Christians are not good examples of how we should conduct ourselves. And also I know there are plenty of people who are non Christians who are better examples. But this is what I've seen here: Christianity is transformative for communities here. Here they behave as they should. With love and friendship, giving and sharing. That's incredible. The simple truth is yes you can help with the first three problems without the fourth. But with the fourth will be easier because you'll have help: The support of a community transformed.
And finally, I have a very important list.
For 4 year I've been writing things I've learned. Now I have a list with more than 500 things. For the first time I'll post it. The newly learned things are below.

Blog numero 30.  Los dias de la Playa.

Miguel y yo fuimos a lima despues huacachina, y aunque tuvimos problemas con nuestro bus, estabamos felices.  Hasta nosotros encontramos un taxista terrible. Pero ya saben eso, si habian leido los otros bloges.  :)

De todos casos, este viaje a trujillo era los ultimos dias con Miguel.  El viaje tenia una sentido un poco triste, pero con excitacion tambien.   Trujillo es un grand ciudad pero habia una pueblito cerca se llama huancayo.  Como un ciudad para surfear.  Quedamos alla, cerca el mar.

Fuimos a dos sitios arqueologicos se llaman Chan Chan y el templo de arco iris, que son de el imperio de Chimu, quien tenia poder antes los incas en el norte del pais.  Nosotros nadamos en el mar y comimos picarones, anticuchos, ceviches, helados, postres, y aveces un verdura. 

Yo despedi a miguel y fui a Ecuador el 13 de Febrero, para empezar la proxima adventura.

Blog number 30. The days of the beach.

Miguel and I went to Lima after huacachina, and although we had problems with our bus, we were happy. Until we found a terrible cabbie. But you know that, if they had read the other blogs. :)


In any cases, this trip to Trujillo was the last days with Miguel. The trip had a feeling a little sad, but also excited. Trujillo is a grand city, but there was a little town called near Huancayo. Like a surfing town. We were there, near the sea.

We went to two archaeological sites are called Chan Chan and the temple of the rainbow, which are of the Chimu empire, who had power before the Incas in the north of the country. We swam in the sea and ate picarones, anticuchos, ceviche, ice cream, desserts, and sometimes a vegetable.

I said goodbye to Michael and I went to Ecuador on February 13, to start the next Adventure.

Blog 28. Days of Santa Cruz.

This trip was one of the most important and most beautiful in all my life.

We walked for 4 days in a valley to the mountain pass.

just ... you have to go to there. I have to return.

This is sufficient. There are photos.

Blog numero 28.  Dias de Glaciers

Despues Huacachina (donde Miguel y yo despedimos a sus padres  :(  ), Fuimos a lima y desde lima a Huaraz, un lugar casi magico.

En Lima Tuvimos ganas a mirar "El hobbit" en 3D, pero quando encontramos un cine 3D si tenia "Wreck it Ralph" y "Life of Pi" y algunos otros en 3D pero no "el hobbit."  el corazon de Miguel era roto.

Pero, con el tiempo que ahorramos hicimos 2 cosas importante.  Compramos 3 kg de mangoes.  10 soles (5$!!!).  6.6 libras por 5$.  Me gusto Peru.  Y tambien, los Mangoes eran lo mas saboroso que he probado.

Segundo, comimos una Hamburgesa y jugo increible.  

Pueden decir que nos gusta comida?   :)

De todos modos llegamos en Yungay (un peublo 1 hora mas alla de huaraz para comenzar un caminata famoso se llama Laguna 69).

La caminata no estaba decepcionante.  Era increible.  Hermoso.  Maravilloso.

Blog number 28. Days of Glaciers

After Huacachina (where Michael and I parted with his parents   :(  ), we went to Lima and from Lima to Huaraz, an almost magical place.

In Lima was looking forward to watching "The Hobbit" in 3D, but when we found a 3D theatre yes it had "Wreck it Ralph" and "Life of Pi" and some others in 3D but not "The Hobbit." Miguel's heart was broken.


But with the time we saved we did two important things. We bought 3 kg of mangoes. 10 soles ($ 5!). 6.6 pounds for $ 5. I like Peru. And also, the Mangoes were the most flavorful I've ever had.


Second, we ate a hamburger and incredible juice.

You can say that we like food? :)

Anyway we arrived in Yungay (a town one hour beyond huaraz in order to start a famous hike called Laguna 69).

The road was not disappointing. It was incredible. beautiful . Wonderful.

Blog numero 27.  Los dias de arena.

Despues arequipa tuvimos que despedir la comida increible, pero fuimos a Huacachina, un oasis en el desierto.  Hay una leyenda sobre el oasis, pero no recuerdo entonces yo voy a escribir una nueva.

Un dia, hace mucho tiempo, Habia una rana.  Este rana se llamaba Beatrice.  Ella era una rana muy especial, porque en este tiempo solo habia animales del mar.  Ella era el primero animal que pudo caminar por la tierra.  Los otros animales sabian que si ella puede caminar ella tenia una ventaja, y por eso ellos decidieron a hacer un grande inundacion para cubrir toda la tierra y sacar su ventaja.  No me pregunte como ellos hicieron el inundacion, es grosero.  Cuando el agua comenzo a crecer y crecer Beatrice le dio cuenta que ellos estaba haciendo, y ella sabian que el mundo necesita agua Y tierra para todo los animales que ya viven y todo que van a venir.  Entonces, Beatrice nado al centro del desierto y se sumergio y comenzo a cavar.  Ella cavo y cavo y cavo hasta habia hecho un desague a el centro del mundo.  Cuando habia suficiente regiones de la tierra y el agua, ella cerro el desague y ella creo el oasis se llama Huacachina.  Claro que si ella podria haber sacado la mayoria del agua y matar los demas que habian intentado a matarse, pero Beatrice entendio algo importante: hay que amar su enemigo.  Una cosa bien dificil con amor es amar su vecino como su mismo, y aveces nuestro vecino es un enemigo.  Los otros animales eran muy sorprendidos que con un oportunidad para tener venganza ella decidio a dar in lugar gracia.  Cuando los demas preguntaron "porque lo hiciste?" Beatrice dijo "hay que usar los habilidades y dones que su tiene para servir los demas, aun los que quiere danarte.  Por que?  Porque este es amor.  Amor require sacrificio, y algunos veces este sacrificio va a doler.  Seguramente va a costar tiempo, dinero, y esfuerzo.  Pero vale la pena, porque si soy un ejemplo de amor (pobre como soy), tal vez in un generacion habra dos ejemplos de amor.  Tal vez en 5 generacions habra 100.  Tal vez pronto todo el mundo puede amar completamente, sabiendo que no es facil, que va a danar.  Pero si todo el mundo lo hace, va a ser mas facil cierto.  Por eso lo hice."

Y hasta hoy dia, las ranas hacen dos cosas.  Ellos tienen mucho ninos (porque quieren ensenar un grande proximo generacion a amar bien), y viven en la tierra y mar, para tener influencia en los dos mundos.  De Beatrice podriamos aprender dos cosas.  Pues, muchos cosas, pero dos importantes sobre propogacion.  Hay que ensenar los que estan sus alumnos (ninos, alumnos, familiares), y ser un ejemplo para los que son tus companeros.

Aca es la leyenda real, y aca son fotos con descripciones.

Cuando salimos para lima tuvimos ganas a mirar "el hobbit" en 3D.  Pero, tuvimos problemas.  Primero, nuestro bus se rompio.  Nosotros esperamos 1 hora en un desierto por un otro bus.  Despues, cuando nosotros llegamos a Lima el taxista era un tramposo y nos cobro 5 dolares por un viaje de 1 minuto y nosotros fuimos en un grand circulo.  Estabamos bien enojados, y con esto yo aprendi que si alguien me engaña muy obviamente, no tengo verguenza en le castigando con menos dinero.  El cine con El hobit no lo tuvo en 3D, entonces compramos mangos y hamburgesas y hablamos por el tiempo libre hasta nuestro bus salio.  Con un bueno amigo, hablando es una manera perfecto a matar tiempo.  Perfecto.

Blog number 27. The days of sand.After Arequipa had to say goodbye to the incredible food, but we went to Huacachina, an oasis in the desert. There is a legend about the oasis, but I cannot remember, so I'll write a new one.One day, long ago, there was a frog. This frog's name was Beatrice. She was a very special frog, because at that time there was only sea animals. She was the first animal that could walk the earth. The other animals knew that if she can walk she had an advantage, so they decided to make a great flood to cover the earth and take away her advantage. Do not ask me how they did the flood, is gross. When the water began to grow and grow Beatrice realized they were doing, and she knew that the world needs water and land for all the animals already living and all that will come. Maybe soon everyone can love completely, knowing that it is not easy, it will hurt. But if everyone does, it will certainly be easier. That is why I did it. " 

And to this day, the frogs do two things. They have a lot of children (because they want to teach a big next generation to love well), and live on land and sea, to have influence in both worlds. From Beatrice we could learn two things. Well, many things, but two important about Propagation. When we left for Lima we were looking forward to watch "The Hobbit" in 3D. But we had problems. First, our bus broke. We waited 1 hour in a desert for another bus. Then, when we arrived in Lima the taxi driver was a cheater and charged us $ 5 for a one minute trip and we went in a grand circle. We were rather angry, and with this I learned that if someone deceives me very clearly, I have no shame in punishing him with less money. The cinema with the hobbit was not in 3D, so we bought mangoes and hamburgers and talked for our free time until our bus came. With a good friend, talking is a perfect way to kill time. Perfect.

Blog Numer 26.  Los dias de Arequipa y Canon de Colca. 

Despues saliendo Puno cojimos un onmibus (20 soles!) a Arequipa.  Cuando llegamos tuvimos que buscar un hostal bastante barato pero fino.  Tuvimos exito. 

Comimos encima un edificio en la plaza de armas y vimos tal vez lo mejor atardecer de mi vida.

Ademas, Comimos comida riquisima. encima un edificio.  Con un atardecer.

La Manana despues fuimos al canon de colca para ver el canon que es el segundo mas profundo en todo el mundo.  Si hay un sendero por el fondo pero fuimos arriba para verlo del un cima por su entrada.  Era un buena idea, pero todavia tenemos ganas a regresar y ir de excursión por el fondo.  De todos maneras, fuimos alla este vez.  Hay un boleto turistico que tuvimos ganas a evitar, pero no pudimos.  Cuestan 70 soles cada uno!  Ellos nos dijeron que los necesitamos para ir arriba, pero no es verdad.  Entonces, si ustedes van a ir arriba del canon de colca, no compren los boletos.

Despues una camioneta que era sorprendiendo en su belleza pasamos el ano nuevo en un pequeno pueblito se llama madrigal con solo 300 inhabitantes.  Era....interesante.  :)

Despues dos noches en el canon regresamos a Arequipa para comer y comer y comer. Y mirar un otro atardecer. 

Yo comi casi la mejor cosa en todo mi vida alla.  Con cada bocado tuve que relajarme y imaginar un verano con mis primos, pescando en el sol, riendo, rodeado por todo el mundo que me aman.

Recuerdan.  La primera parte de los fotos aca es de antes el canon, y el segundo parte es despues.  Sin embargo, no se porque pero los fotos son desordinados.  Los que son primero en realidad son desde el segundo parte, y los que son segundo son desde el primer dia.

Blog Numer 26. The days of Arequipa and Colca Canyon.

After leaving Puno we took a onmibus (20 soles!) To Arequipa. When we arrived we had to find a hostel pretty cheap but fine. We succeeded.

We ate up a building in the main square and saw perhaps the best sunset of my life.

Furthermore, we ate tasty food. above a building. With a sunset.

The morning after we went to Colca Canyon to see the canyon is the second deepest in the world. Yes there is a path from the bottom but we went up above to see the top by its entry. It was a good idea, but we still want to go back and hike through the bottom. In any case, we went there this time. There is a tourist ticket we had wanted to avoid, but we could not. They cost 70 soles each! They told us that we need them to go above, but this is not true. So if you are going to go above the Colca Canyon, do not buy the tickets.



After one hike that was surprising in its beauty we spent the New Year in a small town called madrigal with on ly 300 inhabitants. It was .... interesting. :)

After two nights in the canon we went back to Arequipa to eat and eat and eat.  And watch another sunset.

I ate almost the best thing in my life there. With each bite I had to relax and imagine a summer with my cousins, fishing in the sun, laughing, surrounded by everyone I love.

I will never forget this.

Remember. The first part of the photos here is from before the canon, and the second part is after.  However, they photos are in a mixed up order so really the first ones are from after the canyon, the second ones are from before.  Don-t ask me why.

Blog número 25

El dia despues navidad.

Cerca cusco hay un sitio arqueologico se llama Sacsayhuaman (significa resting falcon, pronunciado "sexy woman"). Cuesta 70 soles para entrar, pero no hay guardias a las 530.  :) nos levantamos muy temprano y fuimos a sacsayhuaman.

Aca hay algunos fotos con descripciones.

Despues tuvimos un desayuno espectacular.  Era pizza fria, pero con una vista espectacular.

Nosotros andamos al templo de la Luna y regresamos a la casa justo en punto para tener una siesta antes almuerzo. Comimos almuerzo con yuri de yanapay para despedirle.  Por fin Norman pudo probar un lomo de llama.

Este dia Miguel y yo tuvimos que re-empaquetar todo nuestras vidas para salir temprano el 27.

Chao cusco. Ha estado real.

The day after Christmas.

Near Cusco there is an archaeological site called Sacsayhuaman (means resting falcon, pronounced "sexy woman"). It costs 70 soles to enter, but there are no guards at 530. :) We got up early and went to Sacsayhuaman.

Here are some photos with descriptions.

Then we had a spectacular breakfast. It was cold pizza, but with a spectacular view.

We walked to the Temple of the Moon and returned to the house just in time for a nap before lunch. We ate lunch with Yuri Yanapay to fire. Norman finally could try a llama steak.

This day Michael and I had to re-pack all our lives to leave early on the 27th.

Bye Cusco. It has been real.

Blog número 24

Los dias de navidad.

Los padres de Miguel fueron a Machu Picchu despues Ollantaytambo, pero Miguel y yo fuimos a Cusco para esperar y trabajar.  El viernes el 21 era el bufet, y el sabado el 22 era la fiesta de Navidad por Los Ninos de yanapay.  Despues esta fiesta fuimos a un pub con una banda en vivo muy espectacular.  El pub era muy pequeno pero bailamos y bailamos y bailamos. Domingo el 23 era un dia libre y Miguel y sus padres fuimos por la ciudad para ver los catedrales y museos mientras yo intente a completar un parte de mi taller de salud publica. (por eso yo aprendi muuuucho sobre esta tema y yo voy a poner las comillas mas importante abajo - desafortunamente en ingles). Este dia Miguel y yo cocinamos mas o menos 7 pizzas por la familia y empezamos a mostrar todo de nuestros fotos. Los pizzas eran....interesante. Voy a describirlas en los fotos. Por fin, este dia era muy importante porque yo tuve un conversation de skype con una buena amiga.

 Lunes era un grande feria se llama Santuranticuy donde los otros voluntarios de Yanapay vendieron cakes para ganar dinero paraYanapay. En Peru el dia mas importante de navidad es la noche santo ( Christmas eve). Yo fui al misa con mi mama aca (se llama Emma) y era increible porque por fin pude entender el mensaje. El nos dijo que cuando estamos celebrando navidad en realidad estamos celebrando Christo. Y, la cosa mas importante, debemos celebrar Christo cada dia! Navidad es un excuso, pero no debemos necesitar un excuso. Despues, el hablo sobre como podemos hacer esto: debemos practicar Paz, alegre, justicia, y amor cada dia.  Con estos acciones podemos celebrar christo.  Por supuesto, los cuatro parecen facil, pero ahora estoy aprendiendo cuanto estoy faltando para hacerlos bien.  Vamos a discutir lo que he aprendido en mis semanas reciente luego en un otro blog.

Inmediamente despues misa yo corri a la casa de la mama de Yuri para llegar a tiempo una fiesta maravilloso y intercambio de regalos. Miguel y yo bailamos hasta 5.  Yo hable con buenos amigos y amigas para la que era probablemente la ultima vez.  Era una noche perfecto.

Por fin tuvimos navidad con la familia. Damos regalos, hicimos chocolate, comimos Pavo.  Por la noche jugamos pictionary, en espanol otra vez, y este era bien divertido. :)

Navidad era un poco Triste para mi. Yo intente a hacer skype con mi familia pero la coneccion era terrible. Yo pude entender y ver solo 25% de lo que paso. Estaba bien frustrante, pero cuando los padres de Miguel llegaron y nosotros empezamos hablando y jugando juntos estaba mejor, pero la verdad es yo extrañe mi familia.

De todos maneras, hay fotos.  bastante fotos.  :)

Blog number 24  

Christmas days. 

Miguel's parents went to Machu Picchu after Ollantaytambo, but Michael and I went to Cusco to wait and work. On Friday the 21 was the buffet, and on Saturday the 22 was the Christmas party for the children of Yanapay. After this party we went to a pub with a spectacular live band. The pub was very small but we danced and danced and danced. Sunday the 23 was a day off and Michael and his parents went to the city to see the cathedrals and museums while I tried to complete a part of my public health workshop. (As such ​​I learned a looooooooot about this topic and I'll put the most important quotes below - Unfortunately in English). This day Michael and I cooked about 7 pizzas for the family and started to show all of our photos. The pizzas were .... interesting. I'll describe them in the photos. Finally, this day was very important because I had a skype conversation with a good friend.Monday was a big fair called Santuranticuy where other Yanapay volunteers sold cakes to make money for Yanapay. In Peru the most important day of Christmas is the holy night (Christmas Eve). I went to Mass with my mom here (called Emma) and it was awesome because I finally understand the message. He told us that when we are actually celebrating Christmas we celebrate Christ. And, the most important thing, we should celebrate Christ every day! Christmas is an excuse, but we should not need an excuse. Then, he talked about how we do this: we must practice peace, happy, justice, and love every day. With these actions we celebrate Christ. Of course, the four seem easy, but I'm learning how much I'm missing to do them well. We will discuss what I have learned in my recent  weeks in another blog. 

Imediately after Mass I ran to the house of Yuri's mother to arrive on time for a wonderful party and gift exchange. Miguel and I danced until 5. I spoke with good friends for what was probably for the last time. It was a perfect night.At last we had Christmas with family. We give gifts, we made chocolate, ate turkey. At night we played pictionary in Spanish again, and this was good fun. :) 

Christmas was a little sad for me. I tried to do skype with my family but the connection was terrible. I could understand and see only 25% of what happened. It was very frustrating, but when Michael's parents came and we started talking and playing together was better, but the truth is I miss my family.

Los padres de Miguel.

Por fin llegaron!  Ellos llegaron a las 1030 am despues una demora en Lima. Despues abrazos, besos, te y mangoes con la familia y despues re-empaquetamos todo de su equipaje (tuvimos que sacar tanto chocolate, regalos, mas Chocolate, ropa, chocolate, y mi nueva camera!) salimos al terminal terrestre para ir a pisaq y ollantaytambo.

Blog Number 23

Miguel's parents.

They finally arrived! They arrived at 10:30 am after a delay in Lima. After hugs, kisses, tea and mangoes with family and then repackage all their luggage (we had to take out so much chocolate, gifts, more chocolate, clothes, chocolate, and my new camera!) We went to the bus station to go to Pisaq and Ollantaytambo.
